NFL Week 3 Bold Predictions

Matthew Stafford Goes Eagle Hunting

The Detroit Lions are entering week 3, coming off a statement win against the Chargers last Sunday. Matthew Stafford has his team playing better football, but is staring down a tough challenge today. The Philadelphia Eagles are playing host to Detroit in a pivotal NFC matchup. Today, expect Matthew Stafford to shred a deteriorated Eagles defense, in route to a Lions win. While the front seven in Philadelphia is among the leagues best, the secondary continues to struggle. Hence why they are actively trying to trade for the all-pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Philadelphia has given up 700 yards of passing in the first two weeks of the 2019 season. Expect yet another 300+ yard performance from the opposing quarterback, this time it is Stafford's turn. With weapons such as Kenny Golladay and TJ Hockenson at his disposal, Stafford so far seems to be comfortable in their offense. If the Lions want to the league to start taking them seriously, it starts with road wins like this. The Lions will shock the Eagles today, behind Stafford's 312 passing yards and 3 TD's.

Kyler Murray Earns His First Career Victory

The first overall pick in this years draft has had a respectable start to his NFL career, but is still searching for his first win. Kyler Murray has thrown for 300+ yards in each of his first two NFL games. Today, Murray will take on his former college teammate in Kyle Allen and the Carolina Panthers. With Cam Newton ruled out for week 3 with a foot injury, Kyle Allen will be under center for Carolina. This is a positive for Arizona's defense, and should be able to force turnovers and three and outs. Allowing Murray and the offense ample opportunities to work with a short field. Expect Kliff Kingsbury's offense to take off against Carolina today. The Panthers are yet to face a mobile quarterback in 2019, and could be in for a surprise while trying to take down the crafty Kyler Murray. The main concern for Arizona's offense this year has been red zone efficiency. That concern may take a turn for the better today as, according to teamrankings.com, Carolina has allowed a touchdown on 67% of opposing teams red zone trips. The Cardinals will ink their first victory under Coach Kingsbury, behind a solid performance from their rookie quarterback.

Joe Mixon Returns to His Old-self

To say the least, Joe Mixon has had a very disappointing start to the 2019 season. The combination of a nagging injury and bad offensive line play has led to a forgetful two games for Mixon. In standard leagues, Mixon has posted a combined 4.4 points total this year. However, Joe Mixon will look to bounce back in week 3 in a matchup against the Buffalo Bills. With reports of Mixon finally feeling back to normal, expect better production from the workhorse running back today. Although Buffalo is currently ranked as a top 10 scoring defense, Mixon should have a decent day based on volume alone. Joe Mixon is clearly the most talented player in their backfield, and gives Cincinnati the best chance to win each week. Watch for Mixon to break 100 yards rushing and a touchdown in a loss to Buffalo today.
