Eno Benjamin Scouting Report
Height: 5' 9''
Weight: 207 lbs
Introduction: Benjamin didn't do much in his freshman year as he only carried the ball 23 carries for 142 yards. However, he broke out of his shell his sophomore year earning third-team All American honors and first-team Pac 12 honors while also rushing the ball 300 times for 1642 yards and 16 touchdowns. His production dropped off his junior year as he only rushed for 1083 yards and touchdowns, but he saw 50 fewer carries. He still earned first-team Pac 12 honors.
Pros: He is a balanced runner as he runs with a low center of gravity allowing him to bounce off defenders. He also can lower his shoulder and run through contact. He is a decent pass blocker but still needs some work. He has a second gear to get by defenders after making a cut. Also, he has a great cutting ability which makes him harder to bring down when combined with his strength. Great at making plays when the play is blown up.
Cons: In his junior year with Arizona State, Benjamin fumbled the ball 6 times, losing 4 of those balls so ball security is an issue. Sometimes, he will prematurely disengage from the play instead of trusting his blocks. Benjamin still needs to work on his catching as there is room for growth.
Comparison: Devin Singletary is who I see Eno Benjamin resembling. They are both undersized backs, both sitting at under 5 foot 9 inches, but are both strong runners. They are great at putting their foot in the ground and changing direction and also have the second burst to blow by defenders. They are also both decent pass rushers and are not afraid to put their head down and run through tackles.
Expectations: For his first year in the league, I do not think Eno Benjamin will shine, but if an injury occurs, he could do some damage. I could see a team like the Saints, Seahawks or Chargers using a Day 3 pick on him.
Fantasy Expectations: In redraft leagues, Benjamin should be left on the waiver wire as I believe he will be an RB3 on whatever team he goes to. However, in dynasty leagues, he could be worth a late 8th round early 9th round pick.
